JUNE 20TH

Our next meeting is on Monday 20th June at our usual time and place.  This meeting will be an all day workshop with KATE DOWTY. The workshop called 'PEBBLES' will be to create an original wallhanging in three sections in a colour range of your choice.

WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS
Fabrics:

Choose colours that blend well together such as a range of blues or greens or reds etc.
Neutral colours will also work.  Then select your fabrics from within that colour range.
Plain fabrics, especially hand dyes, work best but minimally patterned fabrics (such as Moda Marbles) can be included as well.

You will need:

1.   Around 1/3 metre of plain coloured fabric
2.   Around 1/3 metre of a shiny fabric such as metallic or lame or similar
3.    Around 1/3 metre of a matt finish fabric, such as cotton velvet or linen
4.   Around 1/3 metre of netin gold, silver, bronze or, alternatively, a sheer fabric
5.   Lots of smaller pieces of cotton in colours to blend with your colour theme, with a mix of lighter and and darker shades.
6 . If you have fabrics in your stash that you are unsure about, bring them along anyway.  They might be perfect!

In addition you will need:

7.   General sewing kit, safety pins etc.
8.   Sewing machine, including free machining foot:
9.   Rotary cutter and cutting mat.
10. A selection of fabrics in a coordinating colour range, see above.
11.  Bondaweb
12.  Backing fabric and wadding, approx. 1 metre of each
13.  Beads to match the metallic fabrics used
14.  Yarns for couching, variegated if possible
15.  Shiny beads for embellishment
